Come and
meet Mr. Ice Fishing Dave Genz
(Special guest at the New Hampshire Fish & Game booth).
Over the past 30 years, Dave Genz, the
man most responsible for the modern ice fishing revolution, has
crisscrossed the northern United States and southern Canada. He has
tested and refined his Winter Fishing Systems on big and small
water, proving that it works on all species of fish.
What did Dave do to revolutionize ice fishing?
He brought mobility.
Borrowing the concept of a fishing boat and adapting it for use on
the ice, he developed the now-famous Fish Trap ice shelter.
He brought electronics.
The same innovated mind that built us a better Fish Trap brought us
the Ice Box, a portable sonar holder that customized depth finders
for the use out on the ice.
He brought a change in ice fishing philosophy.
To understand Dave’s impact on the sport, you have to realize he is
first and foremost a fisherman, winter, spring, summer and fall. He
knows what it means to study contour maps, made a lifetime study of
fish habits, knows good equipment when he picks it up or to design
it if can’t find what he wants. Dave’s designs have led directly to
the latest generation rods, lures, line, augers, and clothing.
Dave was inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame
as a Legendary Angler, and the Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame. He
has received
countless
accolades for his contribution to ice fishing and the ice fishing
industry. Other accomplishments include: Field Staff member for
In-fisherman, Co-author of In-Fisherman book “Ice Fishing Secretes’,
Silver medalist of the 1992 World Ice Fishing Championship-Team USA,
Author of ‘Bluegills” the book and DVD, and a Wall Street Journal
Feature Story
Seminar: Ice Fishing, We’ve come a Long Ways (Saturday 10:30 AM
only)
Dave’s seminar walks you thru the principles of modern ice fishing.
He discusses the techniques he uses to catch fish, from the use of
modern electronics to reading a lake map. He also talks about the
importance of staying warm and safe out on the ice. Then he will
take you thru all his tips on drilling holes, jigging and choosing
an ice rod. With all the information Dave shares you will surely
walk away a better ice angler.

Catching the new State record
Dolphin Fish (aka Mahi Mahi) while Cape Cod fishing with Pro Guide
Eric Staplefield of Hair Ball Charters.
Did
you know these could be caught in New Enland? Yes, this 62-pound
dolphin fish, also known as a mahi-mahi was caught out of Cape Cod.
According to Hairball Charters captain Eric Stapelfeld - who took
this picture and helped catch the fish - the state record for a
mahi-mahi was 47 pounds - meaning, a new record for the books.
Staplefeld will explain proudly, "The odds of catching this are one
in a million." This fish will be on display at the Hairball Charters
exhibit space near the entrance. The Rockingham Fishing & Hunting
Expo will boast that you can view this fish here first, before any
other show. More details about this record catch and who caught it,
can be read on Boston.com [Click

Archery
Shooting seminar with Dan Zecker of Big Al's Archery
This seminar will teach proper form
for both olympic style and compound archery. Steve Jordon who also
runs the Big Al's Joad program will teach proper form for the
olympic style. Steve is a level 4 accredited coach. Dan Zecker will
teach compound archery. Dan has won many state and regional shooting
events and is both an accomplished archer and coach. Some of Dan's
students have been ranked in the top 5 in the country. He also owns
and operates Big Al's Archery in Seabrook, N.H.
Junior Olympic Archery Development
(JOAD)
This
seminar is geared to the junior olympic archery development program.
This program is geared to teaching children safety and proper
shooting techniques. The program has different achievment levels
from the very beginner to the golden olympian where children and
young adults can advance as far as the olympic team. Ages run from 5
years to 20 years old. Our most important asset in archery, just as
in life, is our youth. The NAA's JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery
Development) program promotes the sport of archery with young
people. It stresses qetting a bow in hand quickly (instead of boring
the kid with lectures), yet doing so safely, and focuses on the
positive aspects of the sport. The USA's last Olympic Gold and
Silver Medal archers
started out as JOAD archers. While the Olympic effort IS important,
JOAD recognizes that it is far more important that archery be a fun
and positive experience such that the young archer will continue to
enjoy the sport throughout life. The JOAD coach knows this and
strives to promote success and a positive attitude. Archery is a
sport for a lifetime.
Big Al's Archery JOAD club is offering weekly archery lessons for
students ages 6-18 (Sr. division also available). The club meets
weekly for each eight week session. Stop by Big Al's Archery booth
for more details. |

Bow
Hunting: Getting to your deer
stand without spooking your prey with Jim's Trix
Jim will share with
you info from his DVD. My hunting partner; Keith Regan, and I have
harvested 250 white tails in the last twenty years with bow and
arrows in MA, NH, ME,
VT, CT, NY, PA and IL. We have accomplished this without the use of
guns, guides, outfitters, private reserves, island hunts, fenced in
deer or exclusive rights to private property. Anyone could have
received permission in any of our spots or could have just walked
into the woods and shot any of these bucks. We do not use plastic
or wooden calls, scouting cameras, scent locked suits, scent
killers, or bottled buck lures. I hunt three days a week
before or after work, if I am lucky, every weekend and one weeks’
vacation every year.
Starting with where you aim at a deer, how to get a deer to stand in
the exact spot you want it to stand, how to put two arrows in the
same deer before it is out of bow range (and it has nothing to do
with shooting fast) or shooting two arrows at the same time. My
favorites trick is one I call the SW buster. That trick alone puts
at least two deer in my freezer every year! Another few of my
favorite tricks are what I call S&S in the dark and make the harvest
at dawn. |

When you Talk the Talk, the
Gobblers will Walk the Walk
Ken Hammel is from Altoona, PA and is the owner of Mountain Hollow
Game Calls, Inc. He is also a member of the prestigious Mossy Oak
and Browning Pro Staff. He has been hunting for over thirty years
and has spent many hours in the woods learning the ways of the Wild
Turkey. He has harvested many Gobblers in his lifetime in over
fifteen states and Canadian provinces, and is very thankful for the
game he has taken. He will share many hunting tips and some of his
own experiences with you. He will show you how to call in that big
Tom and demonstrate the right way to use mouth calls and friction
calls.
Because of his knowledge and experience, this seminar will help you
the Turkey Hunter learn the technique of true turkey talk when using
calls that you have put in your vest, allowing you to harvest the

Hunting
the Whitetail Deer in New England with Dean Vanier of
NorthWoods Common Scents.
Don't miss this
opportunity to learn how you can increase your odds of success
hunting deer in the woods of New Hampshire. This session features
Dean Vanier of NorthWoods Common Scents, who has more than 35
years experience pursuing whitetails in the New England woodlands.
Born and raised in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, Vanier's extensive
hunting and trapping experience has given him an intimate
knowledge and unique perspective on calling and scent hunting
whitetails. The seminar begins with scouting tips and info on what
to look for in the deer woods. Then, learn about the whitetail's
most effective defense mechanism and how you can use this
knowledge to your advantage. Vanier's surefire strategy is that by
fooling the whitetail's ears, eyes and nose, you can and will
bring deer to you. During the session, Vanier will break down each
of the three phases of the deer rut and explain how the rut's
progression dictates which calls and what types of scent to use.
He demonstrates the variety of deer lures available, their
intended use and how deer respond to them. You'll learn typical
calling and scent hunting tips and get an introduction to advanced
calling and scent hunting techniques. This seminar will give you a
whole new perspective on hunting whitetails by calling and using
deer lures.

The Auxiliary is the uniformed, civilian arm of Team Coast Guard.
Most people know us
through our public boating safety classes and free Vessel Safety
Checks. We also conduct safety patrols on Seacoast waterways, during
which we might be called upon to do anything from search and rescue
to environmental monitoring. We work side-by-side with the active
duty Coast Guard on missions from watchstanding in the tower to
going to sea aboard Coast Guard Cutters.
Stop by our booth to learn more about boating safety equipment, sign
up for classes, find out about joining, or just to talk about
boating!

Bagging
the newest NH state record with John Klucky??

Every hunters dream, you never know
what might just walk right in front of you. Come hear how lucky John
Klucky from Klucky's Outdoor Adventures came across possibly the
newest state record. John will also have the mount available for
your viewing at the expo.
Breaking News...quoted from:
http://www.kluckysoutdooradventures.com/nhrecord.html
"New Hampshire State Record In Jeopardy!
November 25, 2006 John Klucky of Klucky's Outdoor Adventures looks
to have broken the current New Hampshire State Record with this 15
point typical deer. The deer was shot between 8-9 am in Allenstown,
New Hampshire with a Shot Gun. Weighing 167 lbs., the deer's gross
green score is 200 inches. After all of the deductions the green net
score is 187-5/8 inches! This should break the current New Hampshire
State Record but only time will tell after the 60 drying period.
Stay tuned for more information." |
